Lorenzo Savadori was the worthy victor of the third race of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies cup at Donington Park, taking his second triumph of the youth development series.

The winner of the opening round at Jerez repeated his success ahead of Johann Zarco, the other rider to have a Red Bull MotoGP Rookies cup trophy adorning his mantelpiece. The Italian didn't make things easy for himself, having to make his way back up the field after losing places courtesy of an off-track excursion.

British fans had their first chance to see a home rider on the podium, thanks to the performance of relative Donington veteran Matthew Hoyle. Having ridden the track four times –including a wet weather appearance, Hoyle was able to navigate the tricky track with a steady rhythm en route to third place.

Markus Reiterburger and Deane Brown completed the top six in a relatively incident-free race, with only five retirees during the seventeen laps.

The next Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup race takes place at Assen next weekend.
