While his Fiat Yamaha team-mate Colin Edwards equalled his best ever MotoGP result in finishing second at Donington, Valentino Rossi was disappointed to finish fourth and see race winner Casey Stoner stretch his World Championship lead to 26 points.

Although Rossi reached yet another milestone with his result - overtaking Mick Doohan as the most prolific points-scorer ever in the premier class with a total of 2,303 points it was scant reward for the Italian who is rarely happy with anything less than victory.

The Doctor had an eventful race, finding himself as far down as eighth at one point after starting second and making a small foray off-track on lap 11 - before fighting back toward the front of the pack into third.

The seven-time former champion looked like he might hold on to the last podium place behind Yamaha colleague Edwards, but with four laps to go Rizla Suzukis Chris Vermeulen managed to get past him.

An unsatisfied Rossi spoke to motogp.com after the race: follow the video link on the left to see the full interview.
