Stars speak ahead of Saturday's race at press conference

Five of the stars of the MotoGP World Championship made an early appearance at Assen for the pre-event press conference for this Saturday's race.

Five of the stars of the MotoGP World Championship made an early appearance at Assen for the pre-event press conference for this Saturday's race.

Casey Stoner
"I'm still pinching myself to believe that all this is happening; We still have to have the same mentality as before".

"As far as Assen goes, there were some big changes last year, and I suppose that –compared to the old circuit- it isn't quite as enjoyable to ride without all the changes in camber".

Nicky Hayden
"I enjoyed the Donington weekend, apart from not being able to finish the race itself very well."

"Last year was good, although I have always liked Assen. The track and the atmosphere is really enjoyable."

"Things worked well at Donington, but we're not out of the woods just yet. We need to start warming up for Laguna Seca."

Colin Edwards
"We had a couple of tricks up our sleeves at Donington; we've finally got the feeling back that we had before."

"I think that last year I gave a present to Nicky for every birthday as long as he lives! We had a good race, it was just the last 100m that was disappointing, so we'll be looking to complete that last stretch this time."

Anthony West
"I've been racing every weekend for the last couple of months, but it's what I love and it stops me sitting around doing nothing."

"Adjusting to the bike hasn't been too much of a problem, except for maybe when they threw things like qualifying tyres at me and I didn't know what to do with them! I don't think that I went faster on any laps with them."

"I agree with what the others have said Assen has changed a lot recently, and maybe the modifications have made it slightly harder to ride."

Andrea Dovizioso
"My win at Donington was important for the championship. Now there is an 11 point gap and my season starts here."

"The pace is unbelievably fast in 250cc, which makes me happy despite not having won so many races."

"Next year I want to be with the fast riders in MotoGP, but I want to win the 250cc class first."
