British 125cc rider Bradley Smith will play no further part in proceedings at the A-Style TT Assen, having suffered metacarpal and metatarsal fractures after being hit by Andrea Iannone's bike in the opening practice session.

The 2006 Rookie of the Year is currently undergoing further examination at the circuit's medical centre, to assess the full extent of his injuries.

Smith's mentor Raul Jara spoke to motogp.com to explain the situation, stating that "although we haven't had much time to speak to Bradley about the collision, it appears that he was riding along the rumble strip and was hit by Iannone. We have certainly not been the luckiest team so far this season."
