Aspar comments on MotoGP move rumours

Subject to much speculation as to his possible involvement in a MotoGP project in the near future, Jorge Martinez Aspar spoke to motogp.com yesterday to shed some more light on a possible involvement in all three World Championship classes.

Subject to much speculation as to his possible involvement in a MotoGP project in the near future, Jorge Martinez Aspar spoke to motogp.com yesterday to shed some more light on a possible involvement in all three World Championship classes.

"We continue to talk with Suzuki and Yamaha, running over several different options for a move up to MotoGP. Right now things are still unclear; we haven't defined anything as such," indicated Aspar.

"We are working well with our partners and sponsors to be in MotoGP. We have been talking with various riders and getting to know the technical requirements, but the key thing will be confirming which bike we will run; something that we don't know at this point."

One of Aspar's riders leads the 125cc World Championship, with Hector Faubel taking over from team-mate Gabor Talmacsi at the top of the standings last Sunday. All three lower cylinder class riders have won races, and that success is also present in 250cc with Alex de Angelis and Alvaro Bautista.

"We are having a different experience in 125cc this year compared with 2006. Last season Bautista dominated, but now we have three riders at the top and we know that if one of them can't be on the podium then another will. The important thing is that this situation continues," commented Aspar."

"De Angelis is very consistent this season, and he isn't making mistakes. This is the big change from 2006 for him. Bautista has been marvellous, and I am very happy with how he is working in his first year in 250cc," he concluded.
