Sixth pole of 2007 for Lorenzo confirmed after wet session

A sixth pole position of the season for World Champion Jorge Lorenzo (Fortuna Aprilia) was confirmed this afternoon at the A-Style TT Assen as the Friday afternoon second qualifying practice for the 250cc riders took place in wet conditions.

The Dutch rain prevented any of Lorenzo's quarter litre class rivals from challenging his pole time so he will get away in first place on the grid tomorrow followed by Andrea Dovizioso (Kopron Team Scot), Alvaro Bautista (Master - Mapfre Aspar) and Hiroshi Aoyama (Red Bull KTM) on the front row.

In this afternoon's slippery conditions the riders took the opportunity to prepare for the possibility of more rain tomorrow with Dovizioso topping the timesheets with a lap of 1'51.429s, ten seconds slower than yesterday's dry times.

Behind Dovizioso was Mika Kallio (Red Bull KTM), who starts from tenth tomorrow, while Master Mapfre Aspar's Alex de Angelis (seventh tomorrow) was third quickest and Marco Simoncelli of Metis Gilera - starting eighth in the race - was fourth fastest.
