The ninth 125cc race of the season saw Mattia Pasini take victory at the A-Style TT Assen, the Polaris World rider cashing in on his sixth pole of the year to secure his second win in six days and move up to seventh in the World Championship standings.

The Italian has turned his season around in the last week, following up on his Donington success last Sunday with a win by more than six seconds today, with his run of bad luck at the start of the season apparently now brought to an end.

Pasini is of course playing catch up after that series of technical problems earlier in the year and still sits 72 points behind the single cylinder category leader Hector Faubel of Bancaja Aspar who took second place today.

Faubel beat his Aspar team-mate Gabor Talmacsi to the line by just 0.031s to maintain his World Championship lead and the Spaniard now has a seven point advantage over the Hungarian, who is still second in the standings.

It was a good performance all-round by Bancaja Aspar as Faubel and Talmacsi's colleague Sergio Gadea came in fourth, missing out on the podium by just over two tenths of a second.

Although Skilled Racing Team's Simone Corsi made a good start from third on the grid to lead at the first corner he was soon overtaken by the rampant Pasini. A group of six broke way from the rest of the field battling for podium positions but were unable to keep up with Pasini, who took charge from midway through the first lap and did not look back from there, opening up a three second gap by lap ten.

Along with the Aspar riders and Corsi in that pack of six were Tomoyoshi Koyama of Red Bull KTM and Valsir Seedorf Derbi's Lukas Pesek who finished sixth and seventh respectively, Corsi taking fifth as the entire group crossed the line within a second of Faubel.
