British rider Bradley Smith, forced out of action at Assen through some minor injuries suffered in practice, will today undergo an MRI scan to further assess the damage caused in his collision with Andrea Iannone.

Diagnosed on Friday evening with a small fracture in his left knee, in addition to those in his fifth left metatarsal and fifth left metacarpal, the Repsol Honda rider has been in Barcelona to be examined further, with all affected bones completely immobilised with casts.

The results of today's MRI will give Smith and his team a clearer idea of whether a return to action at the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland will be realistic for the 16 year-old, or whether he should wait until the next race at Brno in August and allow himself an extended recovery period.
