Talmacsi confesses to having Assen nerves

Hector Faubel may currently be top of the tree in 125cc, but the Spaniard has no room to relax with team-mate Gabor Talmacsi just seven points behind him in the classification.

The Hungarian missed out on second place to his Aspar colleague by just 31 thousandths of a second at Assen last Saturday, but was still able to step onto the podium.

Eyebrows were raised about Talmacsi's curious manoeuvre on the finishing line when, side-by-side with Faubel, he took his left hand off the bars.

"At the end of the race I was very nervous, because we were in a big group of riders," explained Talmacsi after the 125cc clash. "After the chicane, where you would normally pick first gear, I slipped into second and lost time. The wheel spun slightly, as if I was riding a supermotard.

"I didn't know who was coming up, and I was fighting with Sergio Gadea when Hector appeared from nowhere and took second."

"In any case, I am happy with my championship position. I am eager to get a good result at Sachsenring, because I have never been on the podium there."
