Happy Hayden ready for two big weekends

World Champion Nicky Hayden was in a cheerful mood when he spoke to motogp.com today ahead of this weekend's Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland at the Sachsenring.

The Repsol Honda rider has found the smiles hard to come by for much of his title defence season but after his first podium of the year at Assen two weeks ago his spirits were lifted as he finally found a comfortable set-up with his RC212V 800cc machinery.

The American is looking forward to maintaining his re-discovered form in Germany ahead of his home race at Laguna Seca a week later and admitted that last weekend at home with his family in Kentucky was far more enjoyable than other recent trips home, following his Assen success.

Hayden commented: "It was nice to have a bit of fun and get to go home with a bit of a smile on my face and I was happy for my family too as I've been going home in such a bad mood. I'm sure I haven't been much fun to be around but to go home after a good result was nice. You know, you just go home, stick to the routine and get ready for two big weeks."

Hayden went on to reveal his thoughts on the forthcoming Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix where he will be joined on the grid by his brother Roger Lee who is set to appear as a Kawasaki wildcard. To see the Kentucky Kid's full interview follow the video link on the left.
