As the only German rider on the MotoGP grid Pramac dAntins Alex Hofmann can be certain of plenty of support this weekend at the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland and he is determined to please the home crowd despite recently undergoing surgery.

Thursday was a busy day for the affable 27 year-old as he participated in the Sachsenring pre-event press conference alongside the likes of Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi, before testing his skills in a special pre-event promotional kart race which also featured Stoner, Marco Melandri and Randy de Puniet - amongst others.

At the customary pre-Grand Prix press conference Hofmann revealed that he had undergone surgery last Saturday to help with the healing of a damaged hand bone and explained that he might be riding in some discomfort this weekend.

Nonetheless Hofmann goes into his home race having already created history this season his current points total of 53 is the highest ever achieved in the premier-class by a German rider and the local fans would love nothing more than to see him build on his recent series of top ten finishes.
