Team Toth Aprilia rider Hector Barbera got his Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland weekend off to a good start this morning at Sachsenring, as he topped the 250cc first free practice timesheet by 0.232s.

The Spanish rider lapped in 1'25.103s as the quickest participant in the Friday run-out, while Finn Mika Kallio (Red Bull KTM) was second and World Championship leader Jorge Lorenzo (Fortuna Aprilia) was third.

Master Mapfre Aspar team-mates Alex de Angelis and Alvaro Bautista completed the top five, with Hiroshi Aoyama (Red Bull KTM) sixth quickest.

Andrea Dovizioso (Kopron Team Scot) lapped seventh fastest, ahead of Marco Simoncelli (Metis Gilera), Julian Simon (Repsol Honda) and Dirk Heidolf (Kiefer Bos Sotin Racing).
