Gadea opens 125cc proceedings on top in Germany

Sergio Gadea opened the practice sessions for the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland with the fastest time in the first 125cc free session. The Spaniard's fastest morning lap was a 1'28.025, over three tenths of a second ahead of Aspar team-mate Gabor Talmacsi.

In a fastest six made up entirely of 2007 race winners, Simone Corsi was third fastest on the Skilled Racing Aprilia, just quicker than Tomoyoshi Koyama's KTM equipped with a new chassis. Lukas Pesek and Mattia Pasini were an entire second off Gadea's pace-setting time.

Randy Krummenacher, home rider and Blusens Aprilia wild card Stefan Bradl, Sandro Cortese and 125cc World Championship leader Hector Faubel completed the top ten.

Returning rider Bradley Smith took things easy on his still tender injuries, clocking the 20th fastest time. He ran off track in the latter stages of the session, which took place under grey skies at Sachsenring.
