Gresini Honda team boss Fausto Gresinis spoke to motogp.com at the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland to explain the replacement rider choices he has made for rounds 10 and 11 of the World Championship.

With Toni Elias out of action until at least the Cardion AB Grand Prix Ceske Republiky on August 19th, Gresini Honda have given a chance to Italian rider Michel Fabrizio this weekend at Sachsenring, while 39 year-old Miguel Duhamel will step in at Laguna Seca.

Fabrizio got a similar chance to ride in Elias place last season at Donington Park when the Spaniard also hurt himself in practice at Assen, but the 22 year-old did not get the opportunity to demonstrate his racing ability after he too crashed in a free practice session and broke his collarbone in a spectacular highside at the English venue.

Gresini commented: For me it was important to give a chance to another rider after Toni Elias crashed out in Assen. Here in Germany we have Michel Fabrizio. After his bad luck at Donington last season we wanted him to have another chance. Hes a young Italian rider.

Well have an American-based rider at Laguna Seca, from Honda USA, Miguel Duhamel, who will be riding for his first time in MotoGP. I think this choice is the right one since Laguna is a demanding ride and the amount of experience the rider takes onto the track with him is really important. The guy convinced us and Honda are really happy about that, so we are too.
