The affable French MotoGP rookie Sylvain Guintoli enjoyed some good results on the first day of action at the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, lapping fourth quickest at Sachsenring in the second free practice session.

The Dunlop Yamaha Tech 3 riders best time was only beaten by World Championship leaders Casey Stoner, Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa, as Guintoli enjoyed one of his best sessions of the year so far.

Afterwards he spoke to motogp.com, commenting: Today went good. I like this track and my bike, my Yamaha is really good here. I really enjoy riding it. Weve got a good choice of front tyre, but we still need to improve the race tyre, weve got a lot of work to do tomorrow.
