A number of riders from all three World Championship categories took part in a kart race at an indoor track situated in the Sachsenring circuit. After two qualifying sessions, two groups combined for one ten-lap race.

The winner of the Group B race was reigning 125cc World Champion and current 250cc rookie Alvaro Bautista, who took victory over Makoto Tamada and Sandro Cortese in the battle of the slower qualifying riders.

MotoGP World Championship leader Casey Stoner and Gresini Hondas Marco Melandri were the fastest riders in qualifying, but were relegated to the back of the grid courtesy of the decision to run the race in reverse order. The duo were not helped by the tight circuit, but made things difficult for each other by engaging in a fierce battle which lost their touch with the leading group. Austrian 125cc rider Michael Ranseder took the win, ahead of Sylvain Guintoli and Mika Kallio.

Commenting after the race, the competitive Stoner remarked that next time I will ride slower in qualifying, because its impossible to overtake here!

Athough Sachsenring is another tight circuit, if you ride hard on the corners there are various overtaking spots, so I am confident for the race, added the 21 year-old.
