One of the busier teams in the last week, having attracted John Hopkins to their set-up for the 2008 season onboard the competitive ZX-RR800, Kawasaki Racing expect to seal another rider for next year in the near future.

Speaking on the day that Hopkins' joining was officially confirmed by the team, Competition Manager Michael Bartholemy shed some light on the situation regarding the running of a third bike, and also the possibility of bringing in a proven MotoGP race winner to ‘Team Green'.

"It is clear that we have a good bike, and this has led to various riders expressing an interest in joining us for next season. Our intention is to improve the team and make ourselves stronger, with our ultimate goal to win races and the championship."

"Although the initial idea is to run two bikes in 2008, we will discuss internally the possibility of a third. It will depend on the technical conditions and the situation with the riders. We will know either before or after the race at Brno what we will do," commented Bartholemy.

"Randy de Puniet and Anthony West are not going to be fighting for next year's bike. We will see after Valencia what we will do. We have been clear with both riders: Randy is our fixed rider for the year, whilst Anthony has been given a chance to show what he can do," he concluded, noting that Loris Capirossi would be a ‘good option' for next season.
