Japanese rider Hiroshi Aoyama, of the Red Bull KTM 250 team, this afternoon took his first victory of the season at the Sachsenring circuit.

The 25 year-old came from sixth on the grid to take the win on the final lap ahead of team-mate Mika Kallio and Master Mapfre Aspar rider Alex de Angelis, at the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland.

Aoyama rode a superb race to earn his first win since Japan 2006, overtaking on the final lap to cross the line 0.119s ahead of KTM colleague Kallio and a quarter of a second ahead of De Angelis who had held the lead for much of the race.

There was an early mishap for Alvaro Bautista, the Aspar rider crashing out on the final corner on lap three having started ninth on the grid, though the 125cc World Champion remounted to finish 17th. Meanwhile fellow Spaniard Julian Simon (Repsol Honda) suffered an accident midway through the race which ended his participation when in sixth position.

World Champion Jorge Lorenzo (Fortuna Aprilia) remains 20 points ahead in the general classification as he came home fourth, with title rival and early race leader Andrea Dovizioso (Kopron Team Scot) a close fifth.

Team Toth Aprilia's Hector Barbera finished sixth, but a number of controversial overtaking attempts throughout the Sachsenring contest will not have earned him any new friends in the paddock.
