Mika Kallio starts from pole for the first time in the 250cc class.

This is the first pole in the class for Finland since Penti Korhonen in the Swedish Grand Prix at Anderstorp in 1976. Korhonen was also the last Finnish rider to stand on the podium, at the Italian GP in 1976.

This is KTMs first pole in the class since Hiroshi Aoyama at the last Grand Prix of 2006 at Valencia.

Andrea Dovizioso has finished in the points in the last 29 successive races.

Alex de Angelis has finished in the top four in the last 14 successive races.

De Angelis has finished on the 250cc podium for the last three years here and for the previous two years in the 125cc class.

Jorge Lorenzo (fourth) has qualified lower than second place on the grid for only the second time this year.

All of Lorenzos six victories in 2007 have been from pole position.
