Bradl set to return with Kiefer Racing in 2008

German youngster Stefan Bradl is set to make his full return to the World Championship next year, forming part of the Kiefer Racing 125cc team.

German youngster Stefan Bradl is set to make his full return to the World Championship next year, forming part of the Kiefer Racing 125cc team. Behind the bars of an Aprilia, Bradl will compete in a full season after a year of wild card appearances and regular rides in the Spanish Championship.

The 17 year old rode for KTM last year in the lower cylinder category, and was unveiled at the beginning of 2007 as a Repsol Honda rider alongside Bradley Smith and Esteve Rabat. After testing the bike in Spain, the son of former Grand Prix racewinner Helmut Bradl had a change of heart, and his departure was swept under the carpet by the Japanese team as they focused their efforts on an Anglo-Spanish duo.

Shortly after, the German reappeared as part of the Blusens Aprilia team in the CEV championship, a series in which he won the last race at Valencia just over a week ago. Wild card outings in Barcelona, the Netherlands and Germany have also been successful, with Bradl taking 16 points from the three races.

Stefan Kiefer, owner of Bradls new team, commented that we are very happy to have Stefan in our team for 2008. It is a new opportunity to have a German rider at the top level of 125cc racing again, and with the possibility of a top ten finish. He is a young rider, and we want to place the support that German fans have for motorcycle racing on his side again.

The 17 year old also made a short statement, adding: I am delighted with the agreement, especially to be part of a German team. We have spent a long time discussing the possibility of this happening. I know that I will feel very comfortable with the atmosphere in the team, and this is exactly what I want, because I believe that together we can enjoy success.
