Elias and Melandri pass late Misano fitness test

Toni Elias and Marco Melandri both passed late fitness tests yesterday, with the added bonus of their having been able to ride at Misano for the first time.

Toni Elias and Marco Melandri both passed late fitness tests yesterday, with the added bonus of their having been able to ride at Misano for the first time. The duo put in two hours of testing at the scene of the GP Cinzano di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini onboard a Honda CBR600, to assess their condition before this Sunday's date at Brno.

Elias had spoken to motogp.com last week from the rehabilitation centre where he has been getting back into riding condition and, whilst he only expected to be around 60% fit, the Spaniard makes an important comeback after just two races away from the action following his broken femur at Assen.

Melandri, meanwhile, experienced a broken ankle when he swerved to avoid a collision with Kurtis Roberts at Laguna Seca, something which did little to curtail his flying form as he took his second podium of the season. The Italian has not been forced to miss any rounds of the World Championship this season.

"I have pain, but it's better than Laguna," said Melandri. "I will do my best in Brno. My bike is working well and I'm really motivated for the second part of the championship."
