Jorge Lorenzo returns to action this weekend at Brno following a well deserved rest, though with expectation levels raised by the summer announcement of his 2008 move into MotoGP with Yamaha.

The young Spanish 250cc World Champion arrives at the eleventh Grand Prix of the season with a 20 point advantage over closest rival Alex de Angelis (Master - Mapfre Aspar) and a 25 point lead over third placed Andrea Dovizioso (Kopron Team Scot), with seven races remaining as he aims to retain the quarter litre class crown.

The Czech circuit of Brno has been kind to Lorenzo in the past, the Spaniard having won there last year en route to the title and having finished second there the previous season in his rookie 250cc year. Those results came on the back of a 125cc victory at Brno on Derbi machinery in 2004, with the Majorcan rider clearly well suited to the fast corners and long, technical track at one of the most historic venues on the Grand Prix calendar.

That record and Lorenzo's brilliant 2007 season so far, with six victories from ten races - Losail, Jerez, Shanghai, Le Mans, Catalunya, Assen – mean that he is confident and ready for action again after a relaxing summer break.

However, the Fortuna Aprilia rider is not getting complacent despite his current World Championship lead. He commented: "Having a 20 point advantage at this stage doesn't guarantee anything, but it does allow us to approach each race calmly and perhaps under less pressure than some of our rivals. I like Brno and have always done pretty well there, winning on two of my last three visits and finishing second the other time. I'm sure it will be another hard race, like most of them this season, and though I've been on the top step of the podium six times this year I realise that it will still be a big challenge to retain the title."

"I'm very focussed on my objective of becoming double champion and I see MotoGP as something exciting for the future, as I'm still not thinking about next year too much. I'm a professional and I want to leave Aprilia having achieved two title wins for the team."
