Substituted by Ivan Silva in the Pramac dAntin Ducati satellite team this weekend in Brno, walking wounded rider Alex Hofmann has still made the short journey from his native Germany to the Czech Republic to examine his options for 2008.

Having undergone an operation on his hand after a practice collision with Sylvain Guintoli at Laguna Seca, The Hoff has been resting up and rehabilitating rather than enjoying the August break. As he says, the four weeks have been a frustrating time for the German.

Its been a tough four weeks. The timing of the crash was probably the worst that it could be, because normally this is the time to be out on track impressing people and looking for a new contract. I have to do things a little differently by talking to teams instead.

Right now I can start to move my right hand. I will try to be back for Misano but it definitely wont be easy. I would ride here if it had been for the World Championship, but it doesnt make sense if you are only going to be able to finish 14th.

With Pramac dAntin yet to confirm any riders for 2008, Hofmann has been exploring other options should he not renew his contract with his current outfit.

My job isnt done here in MotoGP. I want to continue with a good team in the future as a rider here.
