The experienced and popular Ducati Marlboro rider Loris Capirossi announced this week that he will be leaving the Borgo Panigale-based outfit at the end of this season to ride with Suzuki, bringing a five year period with the team to an end.

The 34 year-old has made a huge contribution to the cause since he joined Ducati in 2003 just as they made their MotoGP debut and his achievements with the Italian factory have been acknowledged Ducati MotoGP Team Manager Livio Suppo.

After Capirossis departure to Suzuki was made public, Suppo commented: We know and we remember well, well never forget, that without Loris Ducati wouldnt be here, probably, because he was the only one in the first four years able to win races with our bike. Well never forget Barcelona 2003 or Motegi 2005.

In tribute to great work undertaken by one of the most popular riders in the MotoGP over the last five seasons, motogp.com has picked out some of Capirossis great Ducati moments in the video which can be viewed on the left.

The highlights include Capirossis immediate impact in the 2003 BMW Award at Catalunya in the pre-season official test, his brilliant first MotoGP win on the same track three months later, Ducatis switch to Bridgestone in 2005 and Capirossis subsequent success in securing the Japanese tyre firms first two MotoGP wins in Japan and Malaysia - and the ups and downs of a highly eventful 2006 season.
