In the second 125cc free practice session of the Cardion ab Grand Prix Ceske republiky weekend World Championship leader Gabor Talmacsi (Bancaja Aspar) reasserted his authority at Brno to head the timesheet by healthy a margin of 0.767s.

Under clear blue skies and on a track still drying out in certain areas after overnight rain, Talmacsi recorded an eye catching time of 2'07.966s on the penultimate lap of his 16 attempts – to set down a marker having been quickest on Friday morning but later just shaded out for provisional pole by local rider Lukas Pesek (Valsir Seedorf Derbi).

Indeed Talmacsi's time was just 0.13s off Lucio Cecchinello's circuit record lap from 2003, and the Hungarian rider was a sizeable 1.116s faster than Pesek in this session, with the Czech rider sixth fastest and knowing that he will have to up the pace to stay on pole in this afternoon's second qualifying run.

Behind Talmacsi on the morning timesheet were Mattia Pasini (Polaris World), Sergio Gadea (Bancaja Aspar) and Sandro Cortese (Emmi Caffe Latte) – with Pol Espargaro (Belson Campetella) completing the top five.

Also featuring in the top ten below Pesek were seventh placed Simone Corsi (Skilled Racing Team), Randy Krummenacher (Red Bull KTM) in eighth, Hector Faubel (Bancaja Aspar) in ninth and Michael Ranseder (Ajo Motorsport).
