The first day of post-Cardion ab Grand Prix Ceske republiky testing at Brno ended early this afternoon as the riders left the track at around 4pm local time due to rain in the Czech Republic – with Ducati Marlboro's runaway World Championship leader Casey Stoner at the top of the timesheets once again.

The rampant Australian is dominating every session – test, free practice, qualifying – in which he participates at present, as well as picking up continual race victories.

Stoner concentrated on testing tyres and a new fairing at the Czech track on Monday and put in a best lap with race tyre of 1'58.254, and a best qualifying tyre lap of 1'56.901 to top the timesheet ahead of second fastest participant John Hopkins of Rizla Suzuki – mirroring Sunday's race result.

Just behind Hopkins was his Suzuki colleague Chris Vermeulen, whilst the hard-working Nicky Hayden – one of the first riders out on track this morning – and his Repsol Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa were fourth and fifth respectively.

Fiat Yamaha's Valentino Rossi was testing a new engine for his Yamaha M1 but did not make a significant breakthrough today as he lapped tenth fastest.

Following another successful day on track for Stoner, the hot favourite for the MotoGP title commented: "We tested the new fairing in the afternoon and we didn't have new tyres so we used old ones: we were consistently doing 1'58.7, 1'58.9 already with seventeen laps on the tyres so it was working quite well: we were happy with it and with everything we tested today."

"We are not sure exactly when we will use the new fairing in race because I think we have to find a little bit more information with it but this is the right direction. I did 1'56.901 with a qualifying tyre, which is not so bad, so I'm pretty happy with the job I'm doing with my team."
