Faubel gives Spain 300th Grand Prix victory

Hector Faubels last minute dash to the line at Brno not only earned him the 125cc race victory and the leadership in the general classification, but also brought Spain their 300th Grand Prix victory.

Hector Faubels last minute dash to the line at Brno not only earned him the 125cc race victory and the leadership in the general classification, but also brought Spain their 300th Grand Prix victory.

The latest Spanish milestone has been nearly 40 years in the making, having started with Salvador Canelles 1968 victory in the same category which Faubel competes in today. Since then, the likes of Angel Nieto, Jorge Martinez Aspar and Alex Criville have all added to the total, alongside current Spanish successes Jorge Lorenzo, Alvaro Bautista and Dani Pedrosa. After Faubels triumph, Lorenzo added to the figure with victory number seven of the season.

It was certainly a spectacular final lap. With three riders alongside each other with four corners to go. It fell on my side to win, and I think that was a fair result. I have been working a lot with the RSA, and at times things have been a bit difficult. I am very happy and want to thank Aprilia and my team, because thanks to them I have the 300th victory for Spain in Grand Prix racing.
