MotoGP's return to Misano is a very special homecoming for one rider on the 250cc grid, namely local rider Alex de Angelis. The title challenger is ready for action, having failed to finish in the top four for the first time this season at the Czech Republic and eager to make a comeback as he challenges for the title.

"I am really excited that we are going to Misano. My people will be able to come to the circuit, and knowing that they are there is extra motivation," says De Angelis, before adding a warning to his rivals: "I'm coming to win."

"Brno was a disappointment. It was a strange move, because I went in with my line but Kallio didn't see me and I nearly fell. I know that I lost points, and that this leaves me practically out of the title hunt, something that disappoints me because before I had the required consistency."

De Angelis is the fourth rider to represent San Marino in the World Championship, after Claudio Tonnini, Manuel Poggiali and his own brother, William de Angelis. Only the former has competed in a race at Misano, back in 1993 in the 250cc category.
