The sleepy town of Tavullia, located just a stone's throw from the Misano circuit, is set to come alive this weekend to pay tribute to their favourite son, Valentino Rossi.

With a population of under 6,000, the town is one of the smaller communities on the outskirts of San Marino, but is a hive of activity already as the residents go about decorating their neighbourhood with yellow ribbons and placards.

At the home of the Valentino Rossi Fan Club, a number of items used for celebrations by the seven-time World Champion in recent years are kept in Tavullia, and will be displayed from today. Items such as the Osvaldo chicken suit and the human bowling pins will be available for viewing to all looking to make a pilgrimage to the town.

The fan club will make the 9km journey to the track on foot for Saturday's qualifying session.
