After having been confirmed for his first full season as a Kawasaki rider this afternoon, an elated Anthony West spoke to motogp.com to describe his excitement with the 2008 renovation.

"I'm really happy with the news, and it's a great opportunity for me," said the Australian after the announcement. "I can finally have a winter without having to think about where I'll be riding, which is a complete turnaround from the beginning of this year. I'll also get to have a full pre-season of testing, which is what all these other guys that I'm riding against have at the moment."

"Well, I didn't want to get my hopes up too much," explained West when asked about whether he had had an inkling in recent weeks of his being offered a deal, before commenting on the pairing of himself with John Hopkins in the Kawasaki ranks.

"It should be good to be in a team alongside John. I get on really well with him."

The 26 year-old is the only rider to have participated in a clockwise-running race at Misano, which he won earlier this year, and had been hoping to gain an advantage over his rivals. However, an extra hour of practice tomorrow could even things out for the remainder of the field.

"I'm a bit disappointed that everyone else gets an extra hour…..I just have to hope that it pours down with rain and they don't get a chance to ride!" joked West.
