Dunlop eager to extend MotoGP stay

With much speculation regarding a potential parting of ways between Dunlop and the Yamaha Tech 3 satellite outfit in 2008, the tyre manufacturer are currently in the process of making proposals to a number of MotoGP outfits.

With much speculation regarding a potential parting of ways between Dunlop and the Yamaha Tech 3 satellite outfit in 2008, the tyre manufacturer are currently in the process of making proposals to a number of MotoGP outfits.

Herve Poncharal's team are the only two riders on the premier class grid to use Dunlop rubber this season, with Pramac d'Antin having switched to Bridgestone at the end of last year. Whilst the manufacturer have certainly made progress in 2007, Yamaha are thought to favour a move to either Michelin or Bridgestone rather than continuing to develop for Dunlop.

Jeremy Ferguson from Dunlop spoke to motogp.com yesterday, and commented on Dunlop's future plans.

"Certainly the plan is to stay in MotoGP. We are currently looking at our options and talking to teams," said Ferguson, who also passed comment on the Misano circuit and the particular demands on tyres before qualifying yesterday.
