Polaris World rider Mattia Pasini took the glory in the 125cc contest at the Gran Premio Cinzano di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini after a dramatic single cylinder race.

The young Italian from Rimini has been the victim of so much bad luck this season, but he delighted his supporters on the Adriatic coast by taking his third victory of 2007 by a margin of just under five seconds.

Second place and the World Championship lead controversially went to Bancaja Aspar's Gabor Talmacsi after a penultimate lap incident which saw him take the inside line on team-mate Hector Faubel who then crashed into Skilled Racing Team's Simone Corsi. Faubel remounted to finish 17th delivering a hammer blow to his title aspirations while Corsi was unable to complete the race.

The final podium spot therefore went to Red Bull KTM's Tomoyoshi Koyama, with Spanish pair Sergio Gadea (Bancaja Aspar) and Pol Espargaro (Belson Campetella Aprilia) finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

Meanwhile the World Championship title hopes of Lukas Pesek (Valsir Seedorf Derbi) look to be over following his crash with three laps to go when fighting for fifth place – the Czech rider eventually finishing in 20th place.
