- Jorge Lorenzo starts from pole for the eighth time in 2007. On each of the other seven occasions when he has been on pole this year he has gone on to win the race.

- If Lorenzo wins the race he will become the most successful Spanish rider ever in the 250cc class with sixteen victories, one more than both Dani Pedrosa and Sito Pons.
