Locatelli sets goals for Estoril

Roberto Locatelli finished seventh in the Misano 250cc showdown, his second best result of the season and his best since the Jerez horror crash in which he received serious injuries. The former 125cc World Champion was delighted with his result in his second home race of the season, and chatted with motogp.com after the hard-fought race.

Im very happy, because it is my first seventh position after the crash in Jerez, and I am in much better condition today. I want to keep on at this level because my result today was much better, and I want to upgrade in every race.

Locatelli finished fourth at Estoril, the location of next weekends Grand Prix, last season after starting from pole, but has set some different goals for his visit to Portugal.

At Estoril last year I took pole position, and this year that isnt my aim. I want a good performance from my mechanics and my bike, and to battle for the podium or at the least fifth or sixth position.

If there is a repeat of the rainy scenes from Misano at future races, Locatelli should be well prepared. The Metis Gilera garage is now adorned with a ships lifesaving buoy, hung above team-mate Marco Simoncellis seat.
