Quarter litre class rookie Mika Kallio last week extended his contract with Red Bull KTM in the 250cc category, having made a successful adaptation to his new surroundings this year. After the news was announced, motogp.com spoke with the Finn to find out his goals for the future.

"After a complicated start, we have developed well and have great speed," explained the twice 125cc World Championship runner-up. "It's a promising situation and we hope to keep up there from now on. I'm happy with the new KTM parts as well. The team have believed in me since the start, and we are going to give our all to be champions next season."

"It doesn't matter which riders go or who are going to stay to compete in 250cc; it will be my second year and I will be looking to be World Champion, so I will have to beat the best out there," added Kallio.

The next pair of races have been identified by the Finn as highly important, with aspirations of rostrum places to add to his current haul. "I think that we have to fight for the podium in every race that remains, and the best opportunities to win will be at Estoril and Motegi."
