Brivio confirms Lorenzo, Michelin and pneumatic engine

Making a change from the usual all-rider line up at the pre-race press conference, Davide Brivio flew the Yamaha factory team flag facing the media, and confirmed a number of details for both this weekend and the 2008 season.

The main announcement of note was the Italian's confirmation that Jorge Lorenzo will be officially incorporated into the factory team setup, clarifying the ambiguous first news of the Spaniard's arrival in MotoGP.

"Lorenzo will be sharing a garage with Valentino Rossi next year, replacing Colin Edwards," said Brivio, before confirming that another highly speculated switch would definitely NOT be taking place in 2008.

"We will be keeping Michelin as our tyre manufacturer. There will be no change and we will simply continue working with them and fighting to improve in order to be more competitive," he stated. "The Tech 3 satellite team isn't something that I am involved in, but they will make their announcement on their tyres and riders soon I think."

Matters a little more rooted in the present were also covered by Brivio, with the news that Valentino Rossi will continue to use the pneumatic engine first tried out at the last race in Misano. It was specifically an engine problem that forced the Italian's early retirement from the race, but Fiat Yamaha are set to continue with their development this weekend.

"The engine problem was not related to a pneumatic valve, and could have happened even with the old engine. We will reintroduce it this weekend with Rossi only, because it is our future," concluded Brivio.
