Ducati keen to work further with Davies

Chaz Davies could be in line for a return of sorts to the MotoGP paddock in the future, as a result of a positive test earlier this week at Mugello.

The Briton had two days on track with the factory Desmosedici GP7, alongside regular test rider Vittoriano Guareschi and assisted by current MotoGP World Championship leader Casey Stoner. The latter is a firm friend of Davies, and was largely assumed to have been an influence in Livio Suppo's decision to give the 20 year-old another chance to show his skills on an 800cc machine.

Speaking to motogp.com today, Suppo explained the decision to allow the former 250cc rider back into the Ducati frame. He commented: "We felt that Chaz deserved another chance after his performance at Laguna Seca. The test was positive and we are looking at whether we can work with him in the future."

Davies stated last weekend that he would be open to a test rider role in the future, although this would be more of a possibility were he to occupy a non-factory ride in the AMA championship next season.

The Pramac d'Antin satellite team with which he made his MotoGP debut in America have yet to announce their riders for 2008.
