A familiar face returned to the MotoGP paddock yesterday, as Kawasaki test rider Olivier Jacque soaked up the atmosphere of the bwin.com Grande Premio de Portugal in his first appearance since stepping down as a full-time competitor.

The Frenchman, who is now concentrating on development work for Kawasaki, spoke to motogp.com yesterday afternoon to explain where, when and what he has been testing in recent weeks.

"I've spent this time since Donington repairing myself after a couple of injuries, in particular a cervical one. I've been back on the bike, preparing things for Japan, especially looking at tyres and a few new parts and engine specs," said Jacque, who also gave details on the direction of Kawasaki's current work.

"We will carry on working with the 2007 machine; we wont be working with next year's bike until around November. The foundations of the Ninja are stable, so it will be a similar bike," concluded the former 250cc World Champion.
