The much speculated changes to the current tyre regulations will not materialise next season, with all three manufacturers having agreed to persist with the new rules in 2008.

Bridgestone's Hiroshi Yamada spoke to the motogp.com this afternoon, and revealed that he had met with Michelin and Dunlop at Misano to discuss the current self-regulated situation devised by the trio at the end of last season.

"We had a meeting at Misano, and we have agreed to keep the current regulations as they are next season. What we certainly have spoken about changing is certain tests, although nothing has yet been decided," explained Mr Yamada, who also gave his views on Bridgestone's first day of a return to one of the manufacturer's least successful tracks.

Yamaha's Davide Brivio yesterday stated that he would personally like to see the regulations remain in place, with competition forcing the manufacturers to improve in order to keep up with one another.
