Jonas Folger and Marcel Schrotter, two German riders who are currently part of the MotoGP Academy, both put in decent performances on Sunday in the IDM (German Championship) visit to Hockenheim.

Folger finished in second place after an exciting 125cc race which went right down to the last lap. The MotoGP Academy youngster got away from 11th on the grid, following some problems with his bike in qualifying, making his way through the pack to do battle with the likes of Marvin Fritz and Robin Lasser.

Fritz is one of the regular front runners in the competition, whilst Lasser has just been confirmed as a Kiefer Racing 125cc World Championship rider for 2008, alongside Stefan Bradl.

Folger got the better of them both to cross the line as runner-up, just 11 thousandths of a second behind race winner and current German champion Georg Frohlich.

Schrötter, meanwhile, came home in fifth position – just three seconds off the pace.
