Andrea Dovizioso took the initiative on Saturday morning at Twin Ring Motegi setting the pace in the last 250cc free practice session before qualifying for the A-Style Grand Prix of Japan is finalised this afternoon.

The Italian Kopron Team Scot riders time of 1´52.173 was enough to put him ahead of the rest of the pack by a margin of 0.192s, the second fastest time of the session set by Master Mapfre Aspars Alvaro Bautista. In third was Alex De Angelis, Bautistas Aspar colleague who lapped nearly half a second down on Dovizioso.Julian Simon (Repsol Honda) was fourth fastest, ahead of fellow Spaniard Hector Barbera (Team Toth) and Red Bull KTM pair Hiroshi Aoyama and Mika Kallio, the Finn who yesterday earned provisional pole position.

World Champion and category leader Jorge Lorenzo does not appear to have solved the problems which saw him only able to qualify sixth as he was down in ninth in this free practice run, 0.792s back on Doviziosos best time.
