Cutting over a second off the time which gave him provisional pole in the 125cc class yesterday afternoon, Mattia Pasini continued his dominant form at Motegi this morning with a 1'56.954 lap of the Japanese Circuit.

Pasini's latest marker was far and away the fastest of the morning, and was also lower than Alvaro Bautista's pole position record from 2006. The closest rider to the Italian under the early heat and clear skies of Japan was World Championship leader Gabor Talmacsi, who recorded a time of 1'58.152.

Lukas Pesek and Hector Faubel put in similar times to Talmacsi, with home hopeful Tomoyoshi Koyama and third Aspar rider Sergio Gadea completing the top six.

Raffaele de Rosa, Simone Corsi, Randy Krummenacher and Stefan Bradl were the other riders in the top ten, with Krummenacher crashing out late on in the session.

Frustration and exasperation, persistent themes of the past few sessions, were once again present during the 125cc outing, with Pesek and Pol Espargaro in particular gesticulating to other riders.
