Airwaves Ducatis Leon Haslam maintained his slim chances of taking the 2007 Bennetts British Superbike title on Sunday at Donington Park, taking advantage of a problematic day for championship leading pair Ryuichi Kiyonari and Jonathan Rea of HM Plant Honda.

In the opening race Haslam took victory after surviving an incident in which he collided with Rea, who then fell back several positions, while Kiyonari crashed out later in the contest when leading the way.

In the second race Kiyonari was determined to salvage something to celebrate on his 25th birthday but made an error which saw him almost crash out again and although he held on to take third, Haslam went on to earn his second win of the day.

I felt good all of the way through and although Ive done a lot of laps and races here, this has been a bit of bogey circuit for me, but now Ive taken my first double here, reflected Haslam. Ive enjoyed the races Im over the moon.

The British rider now trails second placed Rea by four points and leader Kiyonari by a 41 point margin in the standings, with the last round scheduled to take place at Brands Hatch 14th October with 50 points left to play for.
