Capirossi appearance boosts mobility charity

Loris Capirossi, winner of the recent A-Style Grand Prix of Japan, will be the guest of honour at a fundraiser for the Variety WA Freedom Program in Perth on Monday 15th October.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Variety WA charity which aims to provide greater mobility and independence to Western Australian children in need of specialist equipment - including wheelchairs, customised tricycles, walking frames and sunshine coaches to transport those who are disadvantaged or have special needs.

Capirossi will personally present two such items on behalf of Variety WA at the event, including a walking frame for a four year-old girl previously confined to a wheelchair.

Variety WA Executive Director Michael Pailthorpe said: Freedom is one of four key programs Variety WA operates to meet the unique needs of both individual children and other childrens organisations across a diverse spectrum of physical, emotional and financial needs. Freedom is all about mobility and so it is fitting that Mr Capirossi is using his wheels to help give kids their own wheels of independence whether it be a wheelchair, a trike or even a sunshine coach.

The fundraising evening is being sponsored by Wellard and the firms boss Mauro Balzarini arranged Capirossis visit to Perth to provide an international and sporting profile for the fundraiser.

As motorcycle and sporting enthusiasts we can envy a sport stars lifestyle, sometimes forgetting that the sick and disadvantaged children helped by Variety WA look at our own normal abilities and lifestyle with the same envy, Mr Balzarini said.

I would encourage anyone interested in motorcycles, sports or helping out those less fortunate than ourselves, to come along to the Loris Capirossi fundraiser. Not only will you be helping sick and underprivileged children, you will enjoy a great evening with fantastic Italian hospitality.
