Shortly after the MotoGP warm up session this morning, the garages emptied as members of the teams joined together at the end of pit lane to observe a minute's silence for Norick Abe. The likes of Herve Poncharal and Luis d'Antin, former team managers for the recently deceased Japanese rider, were a prominent presence alongside the entire MotoGP field, some of whom had been privileged enough to have raced against Abe over the course of his premier class career.

The funeral ceremony for the former Grand Prix race winner, tragically killed in a road accident one week ago, was held yesterday in Tokyo.
