One of a small selection of wild cards in action at Sepang is Indonesian rider Doni Tata Pradita, who is looking to qualify for a 250cc World Championship race for the first time this weekend.

The 17 year-old has become something of a regular fixture in MotoGP visits to the Malaysian circuit, having competed in the 125cc race in one-off appearances over the past two seasons. Praditas two results in the lower cylinder category have been a 31st and a 26th place at what is effectively a home race for the Yogyakarta native.

The youngster spoke to motogp.com yesterday afternoon, following on from his opening 250cc qualifying session and an innocuous lowside crash.

The track has been very difficult this weekend, there is not much grip and I crashed because of this, explained Pradita, who currently competes in the All Japan Road Race Championships in the GP250 class.

I am aiming to ride a full season in the World Championship next year, added the Yamaha rider.
