With the expected announcement of the Grand Prix Commission's decision on a control tyre for 2008 postponed until next week, the delay means an extra few days of waiting for the three MotoGP tyre manufacturers.

However, Jean-Phillipe Weber from Michelin explained to motogp.com this afternoon that he is expecting a pleasing conclusion to the saga.

"The information that I have is that the final answer will be given on Friday, so we think that everything should be fixed by next week. It has taken more time, but I think that the final decision should be positive for us and allow the competition between tyre manufacturers to remain," explained the Michelin man, who also has had one of his key riders, Valentino Rossi, persistently linked with a switch to Bridgestone rubber for next season.

"We hear a lot of different things about this situation, but at the moment we don't know anything more about that," commented Weber when quizzed about a possible Rossi move.

The new 16" rear tyre used by Nicky Hayden in Australia, and which will most probably be utilised by the American in tomorrow's race, has also pleased the French company.

"The 16" rear is working quite well, especially here at Malaysia; we are happy with the development of this tyre," concluded Weber.
