After some very light rain overnight and under grey cloudy skies, Ducati Marlboro's Stoner – second on the grid - and pole man Pedrosa were followed on the timesheet by Marco Melandri (Honda Gresini) who starts behind them on the front row later today.

In the 250cc warm up World Champion Jorge Lorenzo (Fortuna Aprilia) also made his intentions clear as he lapped ahead of the pack, 0.134s quicker than second fastest participant Marco Simoncelli (Metis Gilera), with Mika Kallio (Red Bull KTM), Alvaro Bautista (Master – Mapfre Aspar) and Andrea Dovizioso (Kopron Team Scot) just behind the leading two.

In the 125cc run-out, which started the morning's proceedings, World Championship leader Gabor Talmacsi (Bancaja Aspar) led the way by 0.019s from Sandro Cotrese (Emmi - Caffe Latte Aprilia).

Esteve Rabat (Repsol Honda), Phillip Island race winner Lukas Pesek (Valsir Seedorf Derbi) and Pablo Nieto (Blusens Aprilia) were all in the top five, while title candidate Hector Faubel (Bancaja Aspar) was ninth fastest.
