With his MotoGP plans for 2008 still yet to be announced Toni Elias was keen to secure another good result at the Polini Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix and the Catalan rider certainly did that with a strong run to sixth from eighth on the grid.

Since missing three races in the summer after his horrific crash at Assen, Elias has been in good form for his Honda Gresini team, apart from a blip in Australia just over a week ago despite still riding with a metal pin in his leg supporting the femur he broke in the Netherlands.

At Sepang on Sunday he made it another good weekend for the team, joining his colleague Marco Melandri in the top six as the Italian rider stormed onto the podium in second place.

However Elias is still yet to state where he will be riding next season and after the race he told motogp.com: ´Were getting closer to sorting something out and Id love to be able to tell you all what Ill be doing but its still just too early to say. I expect to make an announcement soon.´

Reviewing the Malaysian action he stated: ´I´m happy with the result. Everything was working well in the warm-up and we expected a good race. In the afternoon, when temperatures increased, we struggled a little bit more. I had some good battles out there as I came through the pack.´

´Once the tyres went off, I just focused on hanging on for a top result. Compared to Phillip Island, we´ve made a big step forward here and I´m now looking forward to the last race at Valencia, in Spain, in front of my fans.´
