Ending an uncertain few months of speculation, British youngster Bradley Smith has signed a deal with Polaris World to compete in next year's 125cc World Championship onboard an Aprilia machine.

An agreement between the Oxfordshire rider and the team, who currently run race winner Mattia Pasini and Spaniard Joan Olive in the lower cylinder category, was concluded yesterday at the Polaris World headquarters in Murcia.

The graduate of the Red Bull MotoGP Academy will have a highly competitive package in 2008, with an official Aprilia machine at his disposal in a one-rider outfit.

The final round of the 125cc World Championship in Valencia next weekend will thus be Smith's final appearance for Repsol Honda in the category. His two year stay with the team, led by mentors Raul Jara and Alberto Puig, has seen the 16 year-old mature as a rider and take his first ever podium earlier this season in Le Mans.

His association with the duo goes back to his incorporation in the first Red Bull MotoGP Academy, during which he shone in the Spanish Championship by taking the runner-up spot two seasons ago. Rookie of the Year on the world stage last season, he currently holds tenth place in the World Championship with one race to go.
